Dr. Corrin Varady started the global digital education company, IDEA Digital Education in 2014. As the Company’s current CEO, he has spoken at summits and events around the world about the
importance of providing high quality digital and innovative resources to emerging-market students. Corrin has finished two masters (Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi/University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the London School of Economics) with First Class Honours and a PhD at the London School of Economics. Varady’s first book was published in the United States with Palgrave Macmillan titled ‘Vigorous Self Defense’ strongly challenging the role of Western nations in alleged peacekeeping missions in the Middle East. Corrin was an Associate Researcher at the American University of Beirut during the conflict between Israel and Lebanon. Corrin has held a number of ambassadorships for both government and university institutions
including being an Australia Day Ambassador and ambassador for the Australian Graduate School of Management.
He was named Young Alumni of the Year in 2015 and Educator of the Month by Kids Discovery in USA for his work with IDEA. IDEA is the current global content partner of Microsoft and works across Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia. Corrin first founded the World Youth Education Trust (WYET), registered in the United Kingdom, Tanzania and Australia to support the education of students across East Africa and reintegrate former child soldiers back into their communities. Previously, Corrin produced the international feature documentary, “The Road to Freedom Peak” a journey between himself and a former child soldier as they ride their bicycles across three countries in East Africa. The documentary was premiered by Fox and Netflix globally.
Corrin established IDEA to create and deliver STEM fields digital education content to primary and secondary students across Africa and the Middle East. The Company currently has 127 team
members across 6 countries and the IDEA suite of products launched in 2017 with over 1800 curriculum topics, 28,000 animations, videos and virtual laboratories and over 10,000 assessments
for students in South and East Africa. Together with the national Department of Basic Education’s Cloud and the WCED, IDEA is currently launching a nation-wide digital program for teachers and students to access IDEA content, assessments and reports.
As a part of his consulting work with corporate and government departments, Corrin focuses on several key areas, namely:
- How to effectively engage and integrate digital strategies into business; the key lessons for big businesses and how they can learn from SMEs and tech start-ups on innovation process;
- The national readiness considerations required for emerging markets to embrace 4th IR transformation policies including training, infrastructure and innovation ecosystems;
- The blue print in creating outcome-based digital curriculum and training programs;
